Community Organizing
Many of MACDC's members believe that community organizing must be integrated into their CDC's mission and work to most effectively anticipate and resolve a wide range community concerns -including developing and preserving affordable housing, expanding economic development opportunities and implementing dynamic community revitalization plans.
From working with neighborhood residents to push for the creation of a new community center to developing leaders to fight for site control of vacant land, CDCs are using community organizing strategies to win local campaigns and build community power. These community residents not only have a stake in getting what they want and need, but are committed to being active and powerful participants to bring about positive change.
MACDC understands that to accomplish it's mission, it must actively support CDC's community organizing efforts.
MACDC supports the work of organizers through the Organizers network which meets everyother month. Please contact Pam Bender for more information.
