  • GOALs Initiative: Growing Opportunities, Assets and Leaders Across the Commonwealth
Community Development Corporations (CDCs) are community controlled, non-profit organizations that, for more than thirty years, have been working across the Commonwealth to build more inclusive, vibrant, and productive communities. Yet, the current economy and an enduring housing crisis require much more to be done. The MACDC GOALs Initiative sets ambitious multi-year goals for its members and then measures our collective progress toward them. First launched in 2002, the GOALs Initiative is currently focused on a four-year agenda to invest $1 billion in our communities between 2007 and 2010. MACDC’s most recent GOALs Initiative report was published in May 2008. Please click on the GOALs Campaign button to your left to read some of our materials.
  • Green CDCs Initiative

MACDC is partnering with New Ecology, Inc., the Tellus Institute and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation to offer training, technical assistance and assistance with identifying and accessing funding for CDCs pursuing environmentally sound and sustainable development projects. So far, more than 20 CDCs have participated in this Initiative. The Initiative also conducts research on best practices and advocates with lenders and government agencies to adopt policies that will better support sustainable community development.
  • Western Massachusetts Community Development Collaborative
CDCs in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden and eastern Worcester County are working together to build partnerships among and between community based organizations; expand funding to support community based development from both existing and new sources; and build capacity of CDCs through peer-to-peer support, technical assistance, and training.
